Mother-Friendly Nurse Training Workshop

Become a specialist in managing normal physiologic labor and birth. Learn strategies that work for supporting natural birth.  

This course is designed for the perinatal nurse looking for ways to expand nursing skills at the bedside when working with women who desire un-medicated labor and birth.  It is also suitable for those seeking Mother-Friendly Nurse Recognition available from the Coalition for Improving Maternity Services (CIMS) organization. The hands-on patient care strategies and skills taught in this course promote the normal physiologic nature of child-bearing.

Presented by: Sherry Payne, MSN, RN, CNE, IBCLC (Perinatal ReSource)

Sherry Payne is a Certified Nurse Educator and Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She holds a BSN and MSN from Research College of Nursing/ Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO.   She has extensive experience both writing curriculum and presenting workshops to professional audiences around the country.  Her work experience includes labor and delivery nursing and obstetrical clinical and didactic instructor.  She is a published author.  She brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and wisdom to the maternal infant health world and specializes in maternity care advocacy for the underserved. She has served as a member of the Coalition for Improving Maternity Care (CIMS) Leadership Team, and is Executive Director of Uzazi Village, a nonprofit devoted to improving perinatal health outcomes in urban communities.
