Mother-Friendly Nurse Recognition
Application Instructions

Thank you for your interest in achieving recognition by the Coalition for Improving Maternity Services (CIMS) as a Mother-Friendly Nurse--a personal and public recognition of individual nurses who provide exemplary care.

Step 1: Please first familiarize yourself with the application requirements by reviewing the checklist items described below.

Step 2: Complete the online application for CIMS Mother-Friendly Nurse Recognition.

Step 3: Once CIMS has reviewed your application for completeness, you will be contacted by a member of the CIMS Mother-Friendly Nurse Recognition Committee to schedule a brief telephone interview. CIMS will notify you of your approval status within 2-4 weeks following your phone interview.

Checklist for completion of the Mother-Friendly Nurse Recognition application process:

I have completed the online self-assessment, "Is Your Perinatal Nursing Practice Mother-Friendly?"

I have requested two letters of recommendation, which are forthcoming, from colleagues and/or clients who will attest to the quality and level of the care that I provide.

I have completed the online Mother-Friendly Nurse Recognition Application.

  I have submitted my tax-deductable Application Fee, $150* and endorsed the Principles and Ten Steps of The Mother-Friendly Childbirth Initiative (MFCI) by initialing the endorsement section on the application fee form.
